West Coyote Hills Home

New Trails for Fullerton

A scenic new system of trails would be opened to families, hikers, equestrians, bikers and others as part of the planned West Coyote Hills community. The new trails would wind through the preserved open spaces within the planned community and the city-owned Robert E. Ward Nature Preserve.

Pacific Coast Homes is discussing an “early trails plan” with the City in order to open some of these trails to the public as soon as possible, before new homes are even built. The plan could result in trail improvements beginning as soon as two months after all necessary project approvals are granted.

In addition, a citizens’ advisory committee of about 30 Fullerton trail enthusiasts and educators is helping to determine amenities, educational programs and usage policies for the 10 miles of new trails, the interpretive nature center and the vista points proposed in the plan.

The committee is working closely with a team of experts on trail-building, nature interpretation and sustainable community planning to create the trails and education plan for the property.
