Water

The West Coyote Hills water plan is innovative and consists of three primary areas: water supply, infrastructure improvements and conservation.

  1. Water supply: A supplemental source of water is in place to serve West Coyote Hills should the City need it to avoid a rate increase caused by new demand from the project. The source of water makes West Coyote Hills the first project in the City's recent history to essentially "bring its own water." Even without the supplemental new source, West Coyote Hills' water needs can be met by the City, according to the DEIR.
  2. Infrastructure improvements: A 3.8 million-gallon underground water reservoir would be built by Pacific Coast Homes. The reservoir would help to complete Fullerton's Water Master Plan and improve the City's water reliability and fire-fighting capabilities.
  3. Conservation: Climate-appropriate landscaping, weather-based irrigation systems and other tools would be used to reduce water demand by an aggressive 25 percent over "business as usual."
