Environment
To protect wildlife and habitat, Pacific Coast Homes worked closely with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to design the overall plan for West Coyote Hills.
The result: more than half of the property will be preserved and protected as natural open space.
Some of the plan's sensitive design elements include:
- Preserving important canyons and ridgelines, including the sand cliffs adjacent to Ralph B. Clark Park
- Preserving habitat to support the California gnatcatcher, a small songbird that is designated a threatened species by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
- Carefully locating home sites on disturbed portions of the site to protect quality habitat
- Funding for long-term monitoring and maintenance of habitat areas
- Use of water detention basins and wetland vegetation to filter and manage stormwater
